Format is what you do to a storage device like a floppy, hard drive, memory
card, etc., to allow data to be saved to it. It is unclear what you mean by
"format: Windows XP".

Excuse-me. How do I erase Win xp from my computer?

Open the control panel, select Add Remove Programs. When the window opens,
check the "Show Updates" box at the top of the window. Then scroll down to
the SP2, and choose to remove it.

You can remove Windows XP from your computer in a number of ways.
You could boot from the Windows XP CD ROM and then move through the setup
process until you reach the section on disk partitioning. Then just delete
the current partitions, and then eject the CD and turn you machine off.
If you wish to install another operating system then you will need to follow
their instructions for preparing the hard disk for install.

prompt type format c: and follow the destructions.. I mean instructions...
