Recently upgraded to Word 2003. When I try to open a document that was
previously created in Word 2000, the formatting and styles are totally
screwed up. How can I get Word 2003 to open the document exactly as it was
created and saved in Word 2000?

One thing to check is whether the styles in your current template are set to
Automatically Update. If they are, you can edit your template (Normal.dot)
and uncheck Automatically Update. Alternately, you can check the styles in a
blank document, uncheck Automatically Update and check Add to template. This
should prevent changes to the styles that you used in the Word 2000 document.

I found the solution. One of the fonts shown in the orignal document was not
yet installed on the new PC. So, MS Word 2003 was trying to show the closest
match. Once I installed the correct font, everything is fine. Thanks!
