Formatting of links...?

Howdy,

I run Word 2002 with XP Pro...

When I insert a link in a doc, I would like it to be
formatted automatically (blue font, underlined.)

But that does not happen unless I do the following.

In order to get the formatting, I have to go to the end of
the link, add a space, and then touch return.

With that, the formatting appears as it should.

What might be causing this problem, and how can I correct
it?

Many thanks,

Ordinary text that happens to look like an address can be changed into an
actual hyperlink by either of two features, "AutoFormat As You Type" or just
"AutoFormat". The "As You Type" action is triggered by typing a character
after the address that can't be part of the address -- a space, a paragraph
mark (Enter key), etc. The other one executes only when you click Format >
AutoFormat and click OK in the dialog, but then it works on the entire
document.

If you're pasting the address into the document, there is nothing that will
automatically recognize it as an address and format it as a hyperlink. There
is no alternative to what you're doing now. That's the way it works, and
there's nothing to "correct".
