I would like to know if there is ANY way you can format a hard drive that is
NTFS to FAT32. I was using this external hard drive on my NTFS system, but I
wanted to give this hard drive to my wife, but her Windows is FAT32.

connect it to your machine
under administrative tools/computer manag/disk manag...........you should be
able to reformat to fat32

One thing I forgot to mention is that I have an IEEE 1394 controller card
installed in my computer, but when I plug the hard drive (using a Firewire
cable) into the controller card, the hard drive doesn't show. But when I
plug the Firewire cable into my sound card (that has a Firewire input), then
the hard drive shows up. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks for the
input

The HD doesn't show where......under Explorer or under administrative
tools/computer manage/disk manage???
you said you used it before.....how did you access it then??
How do you know its formatted as NTFS??

Hi,

Partition Magic will allow you to go back to fat32 without loss of data.
It makes good sense to do a backup before such a major system change
though. Partition Magic 8 is about $30 from ebay.
