I'm trying to format the C: drive, that is curently
running Win 2000, so that I can install XP.
I have XP running on the D: drive. I tried to
format the C drive from XP on the D drive it seemed
like it was going to work until it got to the end
and said that it failed.
Can I format C drive in dos? Please Help!
Thank U.

Bruce,

the computer boots from the C: drive. If you succeed in
formatting that, the computer will no longer work.

In other words, it's not as simple as that. What are you trying
to accomplish? Why do you want to format the C: drive?

http://www.michna.com/kb/WxMove.htm contains a description on
how to create a Simple Boot Diskette. Perhaps that will
temporarily help you to boot without a C: drive.
