I am trying to format my hard drive and am having a few problems. I am using XP and have made a MS-Dos start up disk. However, when I restart my computer it will not take me to the A: prompt. And I am not quite sure what to do after that. I am not very computer literate, but can manage directions alright. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Bob

Are you wanting to reinstall Windows XP?
If so, there is no need for that boot disk.
All the necessary tools are on the Windows XP CD for a Clean
Installation:

Jones is right, if you have a WinXP CD, you don't need to
get to the A: prompt or use floppy, it'd would give you an
option to format your hard drive.
If you really want to use the startup disk, then you need
to change your computer's Boot Sequence in BIOS.
