Formatting Footers from Margin to Margin

I checked previous posts, but I didn't see this question, unlesss I
overlooked it - Is there a way to insert a footer in Excel where the text
will go from left to right across the entire page?

Just select the center portion of the footer. Set it to center align and
type in your text. Excel will show the text wrapped to fit the space, but
don't worry. It will all be on one line (if it will fit on one line) unless
you put in line feeds (Enter key). James (P.S., Excel won't add spaces to
make the text occupy the entire area between margins as Word will, if that's
what you mean.)

When I go into Headers & Footers, it gives me a drop-down that has different
options and I am not allowed to type into, or there is a header/footer for
left, center and right. If I type into the left box, it will only go so far
and begin to wrap, it will not allow me to continue to type over to the right
margin.

Thanks much!

For me (using Excel 2003) text in the left hand box will go right across to
the left hand boundary if required (or the centre box will go right across,
or the right hand box will go all the way to the left).
