Formatting c drive

i want to wipe my whole computer but since windows is in
cd drive and u cant format when running programs in c
dirve how do i do it????? (i no it can be done in dos but
i cant find it!)

Assuming that your plan is to reformat and reinstall XP, just
boot from the XP CD and follow the prompts.
 
im looking at my XP cd now and i dont see a boot feature.


Assuming that you have an XP Installation CD (not a restore CD)
it will boot. Just set your BIOS boot sequence for CD first, put
the CD in the drive and reboot the computer.

You need to set your machine to boot from CD. That's done by going
into the BIOS cmos setup program and selecting CD as the first boot
item. Some newer machines (notably laptops) can access certain
features of the cmos setup program from within Windows. Check your
machine manual for instructions.

As Ken stated, the XP CD is bootable. That applies to the retail
version and most retail OEM versions. If you have a recovery CD only,
all bets are off.
