Formatting C Drive

If I decide to format my C drive, will this erase my
windows XP as well? My laptop was a gift to me, so I
don't have the original XP cd, so if my XP will be erased
when I format my c drive, I wont be able to reinstall.
And if it won't erase XP, is there anything it will erase
I should be concerned about?

You can get in contact with the maker of your Notebook and
order a recovery CD for that particular brand. Also if it
is a newer model notebook it might have a recovery section
on the Boot sector. (If you reformatted you will probably
wipe this out)

I would try to get the recovery CD. If you boot with this
CD it will do the reformatting and recovery.
