formatted hard drive but cant re install xp home edition

I need help with this. When i tryed to reinstall it formats the partition. it
than goes and does th copying. after it restarts i ge an error stating "an
invalid parameter was passed to a service or function". than it restarts.
 
If you are re-installing you might like to consider wiping the hard drive
first.I have used "Dban" for this.

After wiping your hard drive the Windows Installer will formate your hard
drive as part of the installation process.

It is quite possible that you have failing hardware. Here are some
general hardware troubleshooting steps. Start by testing the RAM and
then the hard drive. Testing hardware failures often involves swapping
out suspected parts with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing
yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the
machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
