Boot from the XP CD and you will find options to format your hard drive and
then to install XP.

If you have a Windows XP installation disk, Set your BIOS to boot from
CD-ROM. Reboot your computer and follow the directions to Install (not
repair) Windows XP. This will take you to the format commands. Good Luck.
Don't forget to back up your data.

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address bar.
How to clean install XP.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage

The important point is the delete. Without that it will just go ahead
and make a new install over the top of the old one

And be sure that you really want to - very often a 'repair install'
instead of the New install' is more appropriate, as it retains installed
programs and data (though you should always back up essential data
anyway, just in case)
