I have recently put in new hard drive into my laptop,
that went fine. The reason that I put in the new hard
drive is because the laptop would boot up, show the black
xp loading screen, and right before it would kick to the
blue login screen, it would shut off. I have run
diagnostics and everything seems to pass, I have also
updated the bios. Could it be just a bad copy of windows
xp? I have re formatted and reintalled twice, and still
get the same thing. Because it seems to run just up to
the point when the login screen should appear, and then
shuts off. Also, I can start it up in safe mode just
fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it starts in safe mode but not normal mode, you've got some sort of
driver problem, or something else that's unable to start properly.
