Boot from the CD. It will ask you to partition the drive. If you don't
select a size, it uses the whole drive. It then move on to format the drive
before installing XP.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary to
partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow Windows XP
to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your omputer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

Steve, I want to put you in a big jar, along with David Candy and kurttrail,
and shake it up real good, then watch you guys duke it out to the bitter
end. Or, maybe you three have so much in common we would all be bored to
death as you kicked back and traded stories about all the fights you have
tried to start. Why, why, why are you so easily provoked?

Depends if it is the one where Windows is - in which case you do it as
part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD direct. Enter
Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install. When it asks
you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the current partition
and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next stage

If it is a different drive, go to Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer
Management, select Disk Management and look lower right for the graphic
of the drive. R-click in a partition or in Unallocated or Free space
and the menu will offer, format, delete, create partition, as
appropriate
