format for music on computer

I may be really doing this wrong or somethign, but every time I either record
a CD or download music from the net, I do it using Windows media player, but
it always comes up on my computer as Musicmatch and it never has the labels
on it. Or sometimes when I put my own info in, I use media player to do that
as well, so the "My Music" on my computer always has it come up as
Musicmatch. This would not be a problem except that I just got this
computer and alot of the music I had before I saved on backup cd so that I
would not lose them, but the song names and artists were not saved and I did
not know that. Now I have renamed them all in media player, but it does not
come up right with My Computer or My Music. The issue ultimately is that I
want to use Nero to burn my music from now on, but it relies on the
information from My Computer and the files are all listed under Musicmatch.
I don't want to have to rename them all. is there another, easier possible
solution????????

Sounds like MusicMatch is "associated" with MP3s. Find the files using
My Computer or My Music. When you see a list of files (they may have
the MusicMatch icon), right click on a file name, then select "Open
With" from the menu. Browse through the list to find Windows Media
Player, click once to highlight it, then click the box at the bottom
that says something lick "Always open files of this type with this
program". Click OK. That should now associate that file type
(probably an MP3) with WMP. Note, if you download RealPlayer or
install any other audio program, that program will probably want to
become the default player. Watch the install instructions carefully.

Hope that helps.
