my pc, the pc start up with floppy disk like it have to
be. Than there appear a:\ and i type "format c:" .
Everytime there comes on the screen "invalid command
or ?" . Can somebody help me? I just want to format my c-
drive but i won't work.
Thanks a lot.

Rudy,

A DOS bootdisk made under Windows XP probably doesn't contain the format.com
program used to format disk drives as FAT. Also, your C: drive may not be a
FAT drive, it may be NTFS, and niether DOS nor format.com will notice NTFS.

If XP is on another drive (e.g. D:) you may format from within XP using Disk
Management. If you want to format C: prior to installing XP on it, then use
XP's setup program on the cd rom. It will give you the opportunity to delete
the C: partition and format it afresh.
