I have some documents with formfields in them which have been created
freehand (for want of a better term - as they cannot be 'right clicked on'
and edited), here is an example { FORMTEXT surname}

I am unable to liaise with the author at this time. Can someone please tell
me - is the wording shown after the FORMTEXT a bookmark just like it would be
if a formfield was inserted with the Forms toolbar and given a bookmark?

Can I simply create formfields with the forms toolbar and assign them a
bookmark name in the properties?

The reason I am enquiring is that I want to reference the existing fields
further down the document but the name in the list of bookmarks is not
showing!

Can anyone offer any assistance?

No, form fields must be inserted via the Forms toolbar, otherwise they
won't work.

Yes, this is the way to do it. Be sure to check the "Calculate on
exit" option, too, in the Text Form Field Options dialog box.

After you've closed the dialog box, you'll see the bookmark in the
Cross-Reference dialog box.
