I have seen this problem before, so I cant believe I have
gotten myself in this mess. Hello Everyone. I wanted to
clean install xp pro on my machine, just as my usual
house cleaning....so I created a backup of all my
business folders, put them on a separate hard drive,
formated my main drive, reinstalled xp, ...... and today
I got to access a customers account....and access
denied. I know the answer I always see, is
basically :"too bad", "its lost". Is there anyway to get
this information back. Is there any hack for the
registry, ERD Boot Commander 2003, etc. I am a small
company just starting out in April of 2003, so all my tax
information is in there too..... I really need help
please....or give me a link to someplace where I can
learn how to do it, or a link to a program, anything. So
please Microsoft Community, help me, my whole life since
I started my business, are in those folders.

Thank You for the link Jupiter Jones. I have been doing
alot of reading since you posted it. The 'Ownership'
issue doesnt seem to be the problem, although I am now
the owner of the file. I will continue to read some
more, but here is the situation again:

Decided to 'Tiddy up' my system by clean installing XP
1. I created backup folders of my business information
to another physical hard drive. ( I have a 120GB HD and
40GB HD)
2. Those 'backup' folders are encrypted---did not
decrypted before backing up to 40GB HD.
3. Booted From XP Pro CD
4. Deleted Partition containing XP Pro on 120GB HD
5. Formated Unpartitioned Space on 120GB HD---Quick NTFS
Format
6. Clean Install XP Pro
7. XP on C Drive...my files on D Drive
8. Now I cant open my backup of encrypted files on D
(from previous XP just hours ago)

To view my pleas and how my business has now been crippled
(by the way, my vendor
information/accounts/passwords/price lists/etc was in
those folders too), just go back to original post. It is
1:30am over here, so I must go to bed. I just want to
thank Microsoft Newsgroup Community and Jupiter Jones for
all help so far.

Here is my site (just felt like sharing--still under
construction)
