Foreign Language Characters in IE Address Bar

How do I allow my current IE 6 to read foreign characters in the address bar.
If I use a Danish ø for instance or the Spanish ñ IE doesn't recognise the
site. Is there a plug-in or update I can download or change to the IE system??

What version of Windows are you using? What language of Windows and IE do
you have installed?
