Foreign Characters imported from xl spreadsheet

Hi,

I am importing various xl spreadsheets (using ADO and oledbconnection).
These spreadsheets are from many countries and therefore some of the details
contain foreign characters like the "ó" etc. Is there anyway to be able to
convert these characters automatically to the corresponding "o". As the
database this information is going into contains a mix of imported and
manually entered data and therefore some entries won't have the accents and
some will. This causes problems when finding duplicates etc...

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated

Thank you for your reply. I had an idea to do it with the function and the
post provided me with the character string needed.

It is amazing, I tried so many combinations of google searches and came up
with nothing helpful.
