How can I force my users to send read recipts? Is that possible? I would
like to set the read receipt to "always send a response" and then grey that
area out so the users can not adjust. Is that possible?
Thanks,
Rita

It is with Exchange and (maybe) Group Policies.

Outlook 2003 has a group policy template that will allow you to lock
down the end-users message tracking options. But in my experimenting
this week.... this template will lock every option in the users
message tracking dialog.

Is there any way to get the group policy template to only lock the
last section of the tracking options?

Specifically, the dialog with the options:
o Always send a response
o Never send a respone
o Ask me before sending a response

And hardcode that dialog to ALWAYS send a response.

In Outlook 2000, this was the standard configuration when Exchange
Server was on the back end. You only got to "chose" if you were using
POP based mail from your ISP.

Some would argue that "always send a response" would open them up to
spam attacks. But in our case, I believe we have disabled
read-receipts to the Internet.

How can businesses regain this "always send" feature?

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but did you ever find out an answer to this? I also would like to force users to send a read receipt, but still give them the option of whether they want to request them from everyone or not. From what I can see, the group policy (as described above) locks everyone affected by said policy to either always request or never request a read receipt. Some of our users don't want to get a read receipt for every message they send, while others do.
Any thoughts?
