force dos program into window mode?

Hello
Is there any possibility to force a DOS program into window mode? (win 2003)
Even if window mode in "properties" is selected, when I start the
program it runs in full screen mode.
Also a "pif" file doesn’t help
Any ideas?

In that case, the program is probably switching to full screen mode
itself, after loading. You may be able to toggle that to a window by
hitting Alt-Enter - but if that does not work, you are stuck
