Force "detail" view instead of icons...

Every time I move to save something and need to specify the directory,
the items already in that folder are represented by icons.

I would like to know if it is possible to have it default (always) to
detail view.

Anyone?

Thanks

Greetings --

In Windows Explorer set the view to Details. Then goto Tools>>Folder
Opitons>>View Tab>>Apply to All Folders.

'Apply to all folders' does not work in XP.

If it would just stop chaning my view without my request, the winblows
experience would be much better. For me there is never a good time for
tiles, list, nor icons... not ever!

Thumbnails were fine in 2K but since XP wants to make previews and crap
with everything, I'd rather just have Detail ONLY always.

Anyone?

I agree, the detail view is the only 'useful' view in windows explorer. It's
also easier to find a file.
If the Apply to all folders does not work, something is wrong with your
WinXP install.
Now, when WinXP has to refresh a directory (i.e. network share), sometimes
it does pop back to the icon view for that folder.
If you can't get this to work, I would do a repair install of Windows XP.
