Try *THE* operating system before spending money upgrading your XP box to
Vista. You may find no need to go to Vista at all.

Why in the hell would anyone want to install Ubuntu when there are so many
better nix distributions available? That's what I love about these Ubuntu
converts, they suddenly think they are nix gurus and have found the end all
and be all of nix distributions, when in reality they are using a polished
turd. Ubuntu is the Fisher Price of nix operating systems, when you decide
to grow up, try a real distribution. Slackware, Suse, hell even Redhat are
better choices.

I've run them all, thankyou very much. I see that you're running Windoze, so
you obviously speak with some authority. <snort>

There you go assuming again, I have more than one machine dear. You might
want to take off those blinders, they are getting in the way of common
sense.

Please do not feed the trolls, put "Doris Day", etc. into your killfile
and ignore them.

It's high time we killfiled all the trolls and their threads and took
this newsgroup back for those who need help and can't get it because of
all the off-topic stuff.

The problem is that no one knows how to help anyone with Vista,
including you.

You have it wrong. Common sense is if one has a Linux box and a Windoze box,
you use the former to connect to the Net and the latter to play M$
Minesweeper.

Nice blinders you have there. ;-)

Whoa! He said "nix" instead of "linux." Man, that is WAY cool.
I betya all the cool folks talk that way. You know, removing unnecessary
syllables and all.
I wish us Windows users could be so cool.
Maybe we should call our OS "Vist"? Or "Sta"?
"Doze"? And we could call ourselves "dozers"?

And while there is the cool factor that's the most important factor here, we
also would be cutting down on bandwidth use by typing out fewer syllables.
Heck, I think we might even be able to reduce our carbon footprints that
way!

Thanks, Dan, for being so cool! And thanks to my fellow Dozers for being
there.

nix is an all encompassing name for Operating Systems based on Unix, in
which the Linux distributions fall. Get it? Unix, Linux, Nix? Nothing cool
about it or meant to be cool.

And if you had read the post you would see that I haven't said a thing
negative about windows, and if you had read my headers you would see I am
posting from a Vista machine. I have all sorts of Operating Systems I use on
a daily basis, my point to Doris was stop bashing as all OS's have their
place. One thing you any nix advocate cannot say is that nix will run and do
everything a windows machine can. Neither can a windows machine run and do
everything a nix machine can. My other point is the Ubuntu bandwagon she is
on is a laughing stock according to the rest of the nix users. Ubuntu is a
candy assed OS and I think its funny as hell how the nix noobs think they
are superior but are nothing of the sort. My only beef is with people that
think its all or nothing, my OS will beat your OS, etc etc. To them I say
get a life. If you have nothing better to do than troll around in a NG
trying to stir things up then you really need to get out more often.

And to you DP, take a chill pill, get a clue, and quit looking for animosity
where there isn't any.

And Dan, if you had read my post, you would see that I didn't say you said
anything negative about Windows. Where did you get the idea that I did say
that? Maybe you should be the one chillin'.

And I don't bother to read headers. The info they convey is not important to
me.
