Whoa! He said "nix" instead of "linux." Man, that is WAY cool.
I betya all the cool folks talk that way. You know, removing unnecessary
syllables and all.
I wish us Windows users could be so cool.
Maybe we should call our OS "Vist"? Or "Sta"?
"Doze"? And we could call ourselves "dozers"?
And while there is the cool factor that's the most important factor here,
we also would be cutting down on bandwidth use by typing out fewer
syllables. Heck, I think we might even be able to reduce our carbon
footprints that way!
Thanks, Dan, for being so cool! And thanks to my fellow Dozers for being
there.
nix is an all encompassing name for Operating Systems based on Unix, in
which the Linux distributions fall. Get it? Unix, Linux, Nix? Nothing cool
about it or meant to be cool.
And if you had read the post you would see that I haven't said a thing
negative about windows, and if you had read my headers you would see I am
posting from a Vista machine. I have all sorts of Operating Systems I use on
a daily basis, my point to Doris was stop bashing as all OS's have their
place. One thing you any nix advocate cannot say is that nix will run and do
everything a windows machine can. Neither can a windows machine run and do
everything a nix machine can. My other point is the Ubuntu bandwagon she is
on is a laughing stock according to the rest of the nix users. Ubuntu is a
candy assed OS and I think its funny as hell how the nix noobs think they
are superior but are nothing of the sort. My only beef is with people that
think its all or nothing, my OS will beat your OS, etc etc. To them I say
get a life. If you have nothing better to do than troll around in a NG
trying to stir things up then you really need to get out more often.
And to you DP, take a chill pill, get a clue, and quit looking for animosity
where there isn't any.
