Is indexing service set to automatic in Admin
tools>services? If so disable it.

I dont have a battery mouse. I got fustrated with it, and
done a format and reinstal, which the mouse freezed
during that procces. I am on a network and we have just
replaced our cards (was doing it before).

When your Processor reaches 100% your computer doesn't have the processing
capability to process the mouse Open your Task Manger and minmize it. The
green bar should appear in the bottum right. See if the same time your mouse
freezes the bar is all green.

Blackviper's suggestion about disabling the indexing service won't hel
me; indexing is already disabled.

My mouse "sticks" to certain places and I can Alt+Tab through th
different windows I have open (different applications, too), and th
mouse is frozen; can have a finger icon on one window, a pointer i
another. It can happen in Word, IE, or games. Sometimes it "wakes up
but more often I need to reboot.

I have Windows XP and Office XP Pro, Visio, and I sometimes play onlin
games from Yahoo.

I've defraged and done a disk cleanup and deleted .tmp and old interne
files.

Any suggestions?

Is there any disk activity going on at this time?

I've had the same issue on occasion and tracked it to an auto update that
was writing to the disk and the mouse would freeze.
