Footnotes

Dear all

Myself and my colleague have just created footnotes on a Word document (XP).
However, when I point to my footnote in the actual document, the screen tip
appears, showing me what the note is so i dont have to scroll to the bottom
of the page but my colleague's doesn't. She either has to scroll to the
bottom or double-click to read the note.

Can anybody tell me why this has happened or what settings i need to check?

First try Tools | Options, View, "show screentips" as those are what the
little yellow things are.

By the way, if one can stand using Normal View, View Footnotes in Normal
View opens up a Footnote Pane that is often more convenient for editing,
etc. Even more true if one has endnotes.
 
This was a bug in Word 2002 that may have been corrected by a patch that you
have applied and your colleague has not. In any case, the workaround
(required once per document per session) is to turn the Document Map on and
then back off.

But don't overlook Daiya's post, as it could be as simple as not having
ScreenTips checked in Tools | Options | View.

I had already checked this and the box is ticked so that can't be the problem.
