footnotes

When I add footnotes, sometimes an empty line is inserted between the footnotes that I am unable to delete. they look like thi
1. jhdjjs

2. asd

I get a message that hitting the delete/ backspace key is an invalid action for footnotes. How do I get rid of these spaces between my footnootes.
 
Modify the formatting of the pargraph in the Footnote Text style to remove
the space before or after the paragraph.

I went to the footnote text style, but I'm not sure how modify the paragraph text.
 
Right click in a Footnote and select Style, then click on the Modify button
in the Style dialolg and then click on the Format button in the Modify Style
dialog then click on Paragraph from the list of items that you can format
and change the Spacing Before or After in the Paragraph dialog.

As Doug suggests, the space may be caused by Spacing Before/After either in
the Footnote Text style or applied directly to a specific footnote text
paragraph. If that is not the case and there is actually an empty paragraph
between footnotes (display nonprinting characters to determine this), then
you should find that either Backspace at the beginning of the empty
paragraph or Delete at the end of the text paragraph will work. Selecting
the empty paragraph and pressing Delete will give an error message, but
Backspace will not.
