footnote slippage

Please could anyone help me with a recurring problem in my word documents
(Microsoft Windows XP, Version 2002)?

I am using footnotes, which are meant to appear in a continuous sequence at
the foot of each page. But sometimes the actual text for a footnote that is
inserted on one page will be carried over and appear as the first footnote on
the bottom of the following page. Does anyone know why this occurs and how to
correct it?

Many thanks.

While you might get someone with a good knowledge of Word in this
newsgroup (and I'm sorry, but I don't), you have a better chance of
getting expert help in a Word newsgroup (this one is for the XP
operating system and your question is about an application). Here is a
list of all the MS newsgroups so you can find the right Word group:

It's supposed to. Don't you read books or monographs with footnotes. You could have typed Footnotes in Help to read,
Why did part of my footnote get moved to the next page?
Word automatically moves the part of the footnote that does not fit in the available space to the next page. The amount of available space depends on the amount of text on the page, the margin settings for the document, and the number and length of the footnotes.

Thank you.
