I'm not sure which newsgroup to ask this of.

When I select: View/header and footer/Insert auto
text/filename and path, what I get is the entire path,
starting at my c drive. Is there some way I can adjust
this so that the path starts at my documents?

Thanks.

Not easily. You could probably write (not record, write) a macro that would
do this.

That's disappointing. I wonder why Microsoft thinks we
need filepaths that are that long. It would be nice to
have the option not to have them run the entire length of
the page.

Well, you could reorganize your file structure so the files weren't nested
so deep.

True, but even if her files are not nested at all, the space eaten up
by the leading part of the path is pretty long.

C:\Documents and Settings\Ann Onymous\My Documents\

Since Microsoft seems to want you to store all of your documents
there, asking for a feature to show only the path below where they
want you seems like a reasonable idea. Maybe she should send it to
MSWISH, or whisper it down a deep well at midnight...

Agreed. Although there is no requirement to store the documents in My
Documents or any subfolder of same.
