Is there a limit to the number of fonts winxp can manage?
I can add remove fonts in control panel/fonts just fine,
but I had a problem and was told I had too many fonts (438)
and was told winxp could only manage 250. I have looked
everywhere and can not find an answer.

There is theoretically no limit to the number of fonts XP can handle.
However, with as many fonts as you have you will be better off using
third-party font management software. Fonts are actually little
programs and all those fonts do have to load into memory when you start
Windows. Also, if just one of all those fonts is corrupted, you might
have a real problem starting Windows. No one needs that many fonts on
their system unless s/he's doing some sort of graphics work. And if you
are, then you definitely should get a font manager.

You've been told wrong. There is no such limit.

What problem did you have?
