Can anyone recommend a source of fonts; maybe a font package. Something
that will work with Word or Photoshop. Something that includes futura
bold, poster bodoni, bodoni roman, and century schoolbook bold. TIA

Thanks. Looks like that site has most of what I'm looking for. The
links send me to www.qksrv.net which my browser is unable to load. Is
it just me or does anyone else have trouble loading this page.

All seem to be direct links to zip file downloads of fonts to me... No
problems downloading. Do you have any ad blocking software or a
modified hosts file installed ?

qksrv.net seems to be blocked a lot by various downloadable hosts files
as it is used in click through traffic - the same may be true for ad
blocking software. This would explain the downloads not working for you
if you've happened across one that is misbehaving.

Can you give an example font that won't download?

OK, I visited from a different computer (thus a different posting
name). The fonts you can browse to present a zip file for download
when you click on them. But the fonts I needed can't be found by
browsing, just by searching. And when you search and find them and
click on them, no zip file is presented. Instead I was presented with
a purchase option. So I guess this site does not have those fonts for
free.

Thanks for the link, but I guess it's back to the drawing board for me.
Actually for my daughter. She needs these fonts for a school project
and I agreed to help her find them.

added [OT] (fonts aren't Freeware).

SOS recommends these two font sites on his web pages:

http://www.abstractfonts.com/fonts/
http://www.angelfire.com/sc/Fonts/index.html

I did a tiny bit of browsing at both a few days ago - liked the first
one especially - didn't try to download any fonts.

This site looked pretty good too.

Thanks for those links Susan.
I am always looking for Fresh Fonts
for use in my two newspapers I typeset
on a volunteer basis.

As for the guy that was looking for commercial
fonts for FREE, I can only suggest he look
for similar fonts on the sites you recommended.

As for getting commercial fonts like Helvetica
for FREE, forget it! :O)

I don't understand why free fonts are not considered Freeware.
I realize they are not executable software, but they are free
and they can be used by software considered freeware. Also,
they get mentioned in this group quite frequently.

Could someone please explain?

You already did. :) Fonts are not software.

Theory is fine, but practice seems to rule the content of
this newsgroup. As it should, IMO.

Yup - we should practice what we preach. That's why I added [OT]. ;)

I think you missed my point? Free fonts should be considered
freeware, and not [OT]. They're not just "data".

Oh well. Have a nice weekend.

A banana with a label on it is not just "data". In your first post you
said fonts were "not executable software". I agree.
Oh well. Have a nice weekend.

You too. :)

That is the key; they are not executable software.

If they are mentioned in this group quite frequently then you haven't
been paying attention. They are NOT executable software.

they were.

Isn't there fonts groups?
That would be the place to ask I'd think.
