I have Windows XP home edition on my laptop and one day I
turned it on after not using it for a few days and
everything was written it some sort of computer code
or "jibberish" that could not be understood. I mean
everything. I was able to find the fonts file in my
control panel by recognizing the icon and it is
completely empty. I was able to restore english to my
desktop icons through Display but the programs and the
start menu are still in jibberish. Any ideas?????

The easiest way to restore your missing Windows fonts is
to do a repair installation of Windows XP. The fact that
your fonts are suddenly missing may just be one symptom
of a bigger problem. Re-installing Windows may also
repair the problem that caused you to lose the fonts to
begin with.

To perform a repair installation of Windows XP, follow
the directions listed at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;315341&Product=winxp. If your newsreader screws up
this link you can peice it back together or you can
always go to www.microsoft.com, click on support, and
search for KB (knowledge base) articlenumber 315341.
