Font List Issue

Hi,

My font list currently shows the description of the Times New Roman font as
"mi" instead of "Times New Roman" so I must have changed it at some point in
the past.
It only shows as "mi" when I choose the option List Font Names In Their Font
in Tools => Customise => Options.
If I untick the box so that all the fonts in the font list are shown as
identical fonts, the description of the Times New Roman font in the font
list is "Times New Roman".
If I type in "Times New Roman" in the Font field, the correct font is
selected but the description in the font list is still "mi".

Unfortunately, I can't remember how I managed to change the description of
the font in the font list but I would ideally like to reset it back to how it
was.

The font list in other Microsoft applications seems to be OK, it's just the
list in FrontPage that has been changed.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Try moving that font out of your fonts folder and running a reinstall or repair of office to see if it recreates the correct one

Hi Stefan,

I was unable to move, cut or delete the Times New Roman font from the folder.
I have also tried an Office repair prior to this but without any success. I
may try a reinstall of Office later on today.

Do you think that this problem is due to a damaged font?

That, or a virus

Thanks for the advice.
In the meantime, I managed to delete the Times New Roman fonts, and I
uninstalled and reinstalled Office without any success. I also deleted and
reintalled another copy of the Times New Roman fonts but unfortunately, I
still have the same problem.

I don't think that the problem is due to a virus as I perform regular virus
scans and or from a damaged font as I completely replaced the fonts and still
had the same problem.

I can't help but think that this is a simple problem to solve but I'm at a
loss about what to do next.

Any further assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

When you deleted the font - before you reinstalled it - what showed up in FP?
- could be another font causing the display problem

I don't use that display mode in FP because it is slow and graphics intensive
