No, there are no enforceable attributes for local documents. If Read Only is
required, change the document attributes using Explorer. You could probably
run a script to set the document to Read Only, but if you're running a
VBScript, there is no reason to use a hyperlink.
Thanks for the info. I really don't want the document to be read only... I
just don't want people opening it from the database and accidentally
modifying it. Our secretary's still need to be able to open it and change it
directly when necessary.
You can use VBA automation to protect a document, or unprotect it (assuming
that a password is known), but not a hyperlink. You can use a hyperlink to
open a previously protected document. Your secretary would still need the
password to unprotect it and make changes.
