Some of my workstations are at remote sites connected
through a VPN. I know that you said to point everyone at
our future DNS server, but do I include a second DNS
server for when connectivity is lost with the main office
This happens very seldom. If so, do I use the ISP's dns
server?

Hi Eotrue,

If the remote site has a DNS server then point them to this for primary and use another Windows 2003 or Windows
2000 DNS server for secondary. You can either do this on the Client side configuration or through DHCP option 006. If
you have a DHCP Server on the remote site.
Thanks,
Tim Roberts [MSFT]
