follow up (flag color) in outlook

'Hi.

1: When I mark my outgoing messages for follow up' with a red flag (before
sending) , they don't show up in the 'for follow up' follow.

2: But if I afterwards (in 'sent items' table view) right click them and
mark them (again) with a red flag - then they show up in the 'for follow up'
folder.

I can see that the background color is filled out in situation number 2.

I would ofcourse like to avoid step no2 - Am I doing something wrong ?

No, those are two separate flagging systems. That will change in Outlook
2007. For now you can modify the conditions of the Search Folder to also
include the other flagging mechanism.
