Due to the number of e-mails on the server I wish to set up personal folders
on each computer, so that e-mails, which need to be kept, can be moved off
the server, but not lost.

I have done this before but not for a while and would like someone to just
confirm the process of setting the files up. All the computers are using
Windows XP.

Thanks

The Windows version is not critical, but it helps to know the Outlook
version.

File>New>Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders File, depending on the
version).

Thanks. Just a couple of quick related questions?
If for whatever reason I had to transfer all my folders to another computer,
would transfering the personal folders be just like transfering any other
folder on the computer? And would I be able to connect the folder to Outlook
on another computer and/or would I be able to open the e-mails by going into
the folder?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. A PST, however, must never be read-only, so that if you transfer it
using a CD, on the receiving end you have to copy it to the HD and remove
the read-only attribute.
And would I be able to
connect the folder to Outlook on another computer

yes, with File>Open>Outlook Data File. The only combination you have to
worry about is if you wish to transfer an Outlook 2003 message store to an
earlier version of Outlook.
