Folders not refreshing automatically

I have found a problem with Windows XP Professional SP2, I don't know if it
exists with just this version, or in others too.

When I use a shortcut to access a folder, if I try to change anything in
that folder, for example renaming or creating (via right click, new) a file,
the changes do not take effect automatially, however if I refresh, they do.
This problem also exists if I then navigate either up a level, or enter
another folder from that point. However, this issue is not present if I
enter the folder path directly in the address bar, or if I browse to the
folder from, for example, my computer.

Check your monitor refresh rate. This can usually be done by accessing video
card driver display options. You can generally do this by right-clicking your
desktop, clicking graphics options, then graphic properties, and going to
refresh rate. The way to access video card driver options my vary from driver
to driver though.

The problem is with the explorer windows themselves, if I press F5, the
changes become apparent, but only when I refresh or browse to the folder
again do they become apparent. Also if I browse to the folder (instead of
using a shortcut) and make changes, they take effect immediatly.
I know the monitor refresh rate shouldn't have anything to do with it
because things can be changing in the background, but the folder does not
refresh itself after changes.

Sorry to post again, but I didn't realise when I first fixed it.
The problem is reoccuring. Using the regkey fixes it, but it sometimes does
it again.

I have the same problem but with a DFS share. Windows article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 did NOT help.

I am running windows 2000 server (all sps) with XP clients (sp2 and sp1).
All machines are experiencing the same problems where files can be created,
moved, or deleted and no changes are reflected until a refresh is performed
manually.

NOTE: when I first boot up a machine, the shares appear to work fine. It is
only after a random amount of time that the shares do not refresh properly.

I've noticed that this problem is scattered all around this board with no
solution.

I guess it is just one of those things.

Had same problem, I simply deleted shortcut and made a new one and auto refresh is working again.
