A folder window with a file folder launches on the desktop when I boot up XP
Home. I checked the Startup folder but nothing is listed. Any ideas how this
happens?

What is the name of the folder? Without knowing more.

Download Autoruns from the TechNet site:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

When run this lists all items that run automatically. If you can't find it
in there, open regedit:
Start | Run | Regedit | OK

Look at the contents of this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and fix anything that is not correct, or if you're not sure post the
contents of that key as a reply to this message.

Thanks for the help. I found a listing in Autoruns that took care of the
problem. The folder contained files associated with my Belkin wireless USB
adaptor.

Great Norm, glad it's fixed for you and thanks for posting back.
