Folder Titles

I recently upgraded my computer and the tech who built the new one
mirrored over the files etc. I wanted to keep.

I keep hundreds (maybe thousands ) of photos in separate folders, all
of which have the subject matter displayed underneath them, ie.
Harbour Pics.

On the new computer, all the folders are safely there on both drives,
but the new C Drive does not have the captions under each folder. The
second drive, which was not replaced, still has the captions.

Can I somehow get those captions back ? I realize I could duplicate
the folders but that would be a bit tedious as some may contain
pictures the others don't, can't quite be certain I have backed up
every single picture.

I hope I have explained my problem in a way which can be understood
and will appreciate any suggestions.

TIA
Sheena

Thumbnail View file names missing.

Hold down the shift key when switching to thumbnail view to hide the file
names. Do it again to bring them back.

I just tried that, without success I am afraid.

The titles I am looking for are underneath the traditional yellow
folders one has. I have the pics inside there on the View as
Thumbnails, but when I look at the 'page' of folders, I see yellow
folders, each with a title underneath, and four of the thumbnails
showing in the background until I click on that particular folder and
open it up.

Open My Computer. On the Toolbar click "View" and select View Thumbnails.

The pics within the folders are already displayed as Thumbnails, that
really is not the problem. It's the titles under the folders I am
trying to regain.

Try this.
Open the folder that has all of these folders in it.
Click View and change it to anything, except Thumbnails.
Hold down the Shift key, click View and click Thumbnails.
Let go of the Shift key.

It doesn't matter if it is a file or a folder, if Shift was held down while
changing to Thumbnail view the file/folder names will non be displayed
unless it is toggled back again.

It worked ! Thank you so much - I spent hours here and there fiddling
with all sorts of possibilities but never thought of the shift key - I
am most grateful, it created a real annoyance when editing photos.

You would've had to discover the Shift key deal by accident. Or you
would've had to discover the tip by accident like I did.

Keep having fun. :-)
