folder permissions exclude everyone

I was trying to limit access to particular folders and
ended up locking out everyone including myself. I guess
I should've figured out that the "deny" conditions would
trump the "allow," but it's hard to imagine how it could
be possible to lock everyone out -- who would want to do
that deliberately?

Anyway, I can take ownership of the folders but that
doesn't get me anywhere. I still can't edit the
permissions or copy the files or even view the diretory
contents. Any way out?

TIA

I do this all the time- its usefull to prevent some things
from installing such as flash (adware) from macromedia. To
get it back, you must be administrator, then just
add "everyone" or whoever to the file or folder, and give
full permissions or whatever you need to do.

If you uncheck the inherit box you can remove too much
from a folder, this is probably what you did.
