I've been having problems with Windows Explorer remembering my display
settings for different folders. If I close WE and open it again within a few
minutes the display might come up just as I had set it before, but generally
it reverts back to something else. Strangely enough, some folders will
switch back to list view, others switch to thumbnails, etc. There doesn't
seem to be any reason for it. What can I do to fix this?

Open the Control Panel, click on the Folder Options icon,
click on the View tab, scroll down to "Remember each folder's
view settings", place a check in the box, then click Apply.
You might also wish to uncheck "Display simple folder view in
Explorer's Folders list" while you're at it.
