this is a duplicate post. Sorry

I have heard that there is a glitch in Xp that you cannot save all of your folders settings to show details instead of icons for folders. As in the registry has to be updated to increase the size of the memory to remember more than 800

I received this script from a person online who had offered it for free to be downloaded in a .reg file
It ran , but it did not work

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.0

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
"BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam
"BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:0000000

First download and install the fix to make xp "remember" more than 8000
folders.

Then, in explorer, set your view as you like and go to: tools, folder
options, view tab, apply to all folders.
Also make sure to check: remember each folder's view settings.

This one works for sure.

The script correctly raises the limit on the number of folder views you
can save. It is possible though that you have things set not to try -
open a window (and while about it set up as you would like by default,
with View settings; Status/toolbar settings, window size and position)
then go to its Tools - Folder Options and on the View page ensure that
'remember each folder's view settings' is checked. Then click 'Apply
to All at the top, to set this all up to be the default layout
