Check your startup settings to find out what is causing this.
Applications that start with Windows can be found here:
- the WIN.INI, section [windows], entries "run=" and "load="
- the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
- the folders
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
See also "How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows
XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310560) and "How to Perform a
Clean Boot in Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310353).

Try this, go to Start, type msconfig in the run box, go to the startup tab,
if you see the folder that opens on startup uncheck it.

If that doesn't resolve it or you don't see the folder, the inelegant
solution to this is usually to rename the folder that opens. This is not a
system folder so it shouldn't be an issue but to play safe, make a manual
restore point in System Restore in case something goes wrong. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore. If for some reason you
can't boot, you can also access System Restore from Safe Mode, boot the
system, start tapping F8, at the menu select System Restore and press enter.
