folder details

ok, you know how when you open up a folder like, my documents .ect there is a
description bar that tells the date of the files in it, the description of
and thing in the folder and alos has the choices of making new folders or
deleting a folder....well that is on my desktop now and i cant get it off.
how do i remove it from my desktop
