I'm trying to delete pictures in my shared pictures folder. But, I keep
getting the message "Cannot delete, Access denied. Make sure the disk is not
full or write-protected and that the file is not in use." I don't understand
this message because I'm the only one using this computer. Please help me!!

Try rebooting.

More than likely some program has got either the folder or a picture open.

Are you able to delete other files in the folder? Right click on the file in
question and then click on properties. Look at the attributes section at
the bottom of the window. Make sure Read-only is not selected. If it is
selected, remove the check, click OK, and then try deleting the file again.
If this does not work then post back as this will require a longer
explanation. Good luck!

in otherwords you can't delete a file that may be open and in use!

Or, you don't have permission to delete files from the "shared" folder,
since it is Shared therefore something has been set to stop you deleting
them.\

I've tried all of the suggestions but none of them work. I can't delete any
of the files in the folder. They all give the same message.

You can try:

Start -- Run... regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll

Then try to delete these files, then (helped that or not) restore the
things as they were before:

Start -- Run... regsvr32 /s shmedia.dll
