Focus / Targeting Cross-Hairs in SlideShow

Hi guys,

Let's say I have pasted a chart (a picture) in a slide

I'll like a visual aid to be able to direct, say, a discussion's focus
from one point on the chart to another, in slide show view.

Is there a way to enable something like a controllable "moving"
vertical / horizontal targeting lines [cross-hair?] to accomplish this?

Maybe a visual superimposed on top of the chart
which can be controlled via keyboard / mouse?

Grateful for any insights.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Rivets.

But is the link ok? Was unable to connect
to the site despite several attempts.
Any alternative links?

If these points are pre-determined, draw circles from the Drawing
toolbar. Show/hide them as appropriate.

If they are not pre-determined, use a laser pointer (or whatever method
you currently employ) to pinpoint the point of interest.

Alternatively, PP supports the ability to write/draw on the screen.
It's a bit clumsy without a tablet to write on, but it has worked just
fine since it was introduced back whenever. The quickest (only?) way I
know of how to use this is: (1) Tools | Options... | View tab | check
Show Popup menu button.

(2) Now, start the slideshow. Towards the bottom left you will see a
faint button with an arrow pointing up. Click on it, select Pointer
Options > Pen. Now, you can 'write' on the slide with the mouse / pen.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

A faster way of turning on the drawing pen during slide show is to simply
hit "CTRL+P" combination on the keyboard.

Other than drawing, to get audience to focus on a particular area/element
of a slide, PowerPoint does not have the specific capability (selectable
slide show cursors?) that you are looking for. The cursor we use is
provided by the operating system so, to change it you would have to change
the system cursor.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide options for controlling the cursor during slide show (without
having to make system-wide cursor changes), don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
