Right,

My floppy drive has disappeared from 'My Computer' and
Device Manager. I have refered to both MS KB articles
regarding this issue and they are no help. I have
replaced both the drive and the data cable. It is
powering up ok, data cable inserted correctly, enabled in
BIOS (but cant get it to choose Floppy Drive as first
boot drive).

Any one got any idea please, new college term and I need
floppies to carry work on.

Hi,

Boot into BIOS and click the Boot tab, press the + or - key to move up or
down the booting devices. Change the floppy to be the first boot device,
CD-rom to be the 2nd boot device and Hdd is the 3rd boot device than save and
exit BIOS setup.

Note: you may also need to enable the read/write function of the floppy
drive in the BIOS settings.

Its not giving me the option to do this, it only will let
me choose ide 0 (ie c drive) or CD Rom.
