Floppy Drive Letter A missing

The Device Manager is showing floppy drive working correctly. My computer has
floppy drive A: missing. Please help. The floppy will not reconize a diskette

It may be disabled in BIOS. Boot into setup (usually by tapping the delete,
F1, or F2 key when you first boot up. Look for Floppy Disk Drive and see if
it's disabled. If, so set it to 3-1/2 1.44M.
 
Check whether it is disabled in BIOS or not.

If you have XP Pro then check the group policy settings:-

start>run>gpedit.msc>ok

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Explorer\ Hide these specified drives in My Computer

Set to Not Configured.[Read the explanation]

Check the registry setting also:-
Start>Run>regedit>OK

navigate to:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer

Check whether there is a Value Name in the right hand pane called
NoDrives?
