I had Windows xp on my cp,and accidently deleted a file that I shouldn't of. I have a Windows 98 floppy startup disk and a 98 boot disk,But I have tried many times to install my xp and can't get it to install,I did one time get to the " put in your numbers to you're xp cd" but then I didn't know what to do after that, I now can't even get to that screen.I do still have the Hewlett Packard blue screen when I turn my cp on.But I have NO CLUE how and what to do from there! Not even what to click on, if I were to get back to the" put in nbrs" screen.I need "SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS" on how to boot install and then what to put in each question of what do I want to do.Please tell me how to do this so I can get on my own cp again. It would be much appreciated !!!

Why on earth are you making things difficult for yourself?! You can boot
from the XP CD. See your system manual to learn how to change the boot
sequence in the BIOS.

You could also hit your F8 key on start up and boot to safe mode and reinstall the file, if you know which one, from your original xp disk, You have to have the instructions from the Microsoft Knowledge Base on the procedure. The file has to be extracted from a cab folder.
