Floating decimal - more info needed

When I say I want to use a floating decimal, I mean I want to be able to type in a number without using the decimal key. Say for instance I want to type in 20.00. I would only have to type 2000 and the decimal would automatically insert itself into the number. Another example: I want the number to be 45.23. I would type 4523 and would get 45.23. Did that make sense

Thanks

Hi Denise!

Two steps:

Tools > Options > Edit Tab
Check Fixed Decimal

Now select your data entry area and use:

Format > Cells > Number
OK

If you omit the second step, 2345 will come out as 23.45 but 2000 will come
out as 20

Thanks Norman!! That's exactly what I wanted. I finally figured out the first step. It was the second one that was driving me crazy because I knew it could be done. Now I can go to bed

Thanks again
